34 Mechanic Street Garage Study

Worcester, MA

40,000 sf

MCPHS University purchased an historic building constructed in 1928-1929. The building was in major disrepair. KSID worked with the university and the City of Worcester’s Historic Commission to repair all existing deficiencies and restore the building to its original character using materials to match the original while creating an energy efficient Structure that would meet current energy and building codes. The 40,000 GSF consists of three floors. The top two floors are ready to receive new program and function while the basement was completely gutted and transformed into a parking garage for future occupants. KSID worked intimately with the owner, owner’s project manager, construction manager, and each of the trades in a design build fashion to bring this historic building back to life in a fast-paced construction schedule and tight budget. KSID is currently working with MCPHS on Master Planning efforts to determine appropriate uses for 34 Mechanic Street.
